Jan. 6. Father, Your word says in Exodus 20:3 that we shall have no false gods. Lord Jesus, when the enemy came to tempt You to worship him and serve him in the wilderness, You said, “Away with you, Satan! It is written ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve only Him.’” The kingdom of God is all about displacement. Truth displaces deception and lies. Light displaces darkness. When we allow fear, insecurity, lust, greed or any sort of addictions to stay in our lives, we serve those false gods and bow to their demands. We must displace false gods with loyalty and service to the one true God. When we do, our God, Jesus Christ, fights for us to get the victory! Today we make the declaration that ‘as for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.’ (Josh.24:15). There are many people bound by false masters and today we plead for their freedom. False masters include addictions, lusts of the flesh and other sins that the enemy uses to bring temptation and then drag people into sin. Every sin has some sort of enticement to pleasure or it wouldn't be a temptation to give in to it. But when the desire comes, if we consistently yield to it, it gives birth to sin, and then the person becomes bound by the master of sin - Satan himself. The only way to get free is to have the bondage breaker, Jesus Christ, come and break the power of those chains of sin. Did you know that the root of all addictions is the need to feel loved? Pray for them to have a deep revelation of their heavenly Father's love to fill that void in their heart, instead of focusing on negative behavior. God tells us to overcome evil with good. We overcome by focusing on our righteousness in Christ, not on the behavior of the old man.
Another part of getting free is to renounce those things. Friend, what are you bound to? Fear? Alcohol? Drugs? Self pity? Unforgiveness? Gossip or something else? Whatever it is, you must renounce it. Jesus Christ makes no victims, only victorious warriors! You must tell the enemy you are no longer in agreement with him and tell him you will no longer serve him! Find the scriptures that apply to the issue you struggle with. You must declare the WORD of GOD over your struggle when temptation strikes. The devil doesn't have to listen to you, but He must obey the Word of God! When you are truly submitted to the Lord and the authority of His Holy Spirit, you can resist the enemy and command him to flee from you, and he must obey! (Study James 4:7).
Pray: Lord, You suffered and were tempted so You are able to aid those that are also tempted. Give me, and those I pray for the strength to overcome temptation and the desire to fight back against the wiles of the enemy. I lift up my family members (______, _____), my neighbors, and those in my city. (name specific individuals when possible and the name of your city as well). Give Your people the scriptures that will defeat the enemy and make him flee from them. Father please forgive the sins of our generational line, the forefathers in our cities and community, and serving the idols of our own making. False masters have had dominion over us and created strongholds in our minds as well as in the spiritual realms. On behalf of ourselves and all those that came before us, we repent for spiritual adultery and worshipping false gods. Please forgive our sin and heal our land, in Jesus name.
I declare “Away with you, Satan! It is written, we shall have no false Gods, and we shall worship the Lord our God and serve only Him.’” It is also written that we are to “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill it’s lusts,” according to Rom. 13:14. As we walk in the Spirit we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. (Gal. 5:16)
I declare that the members of our families and those in our communities and cities shall receive the grace and strength of God that enables them to resist temptation, so that they will serve only Jesus Christ and not false gods and idols. Holy Spirit, put the very scriptures in front of them that they need to defeat the enemy.
I declare as it is written in Proverbs 16:25, "There is a way that seems right to a man but it's end is the way of death." Now speak: Satan, you cannot tempt with me with death!!
I declare that we shall not serve the lusts of the flesh for it is written, we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us! For it is written, ‘the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,’ and we are ready to punish all disobedience by taking every ungodly desire, temptation and lust of our flesh and submit it to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of the Holy Spirit. Father, we make this declaration in faith, pleading with You to give Your people the conviction, strength and courage to resist the enemy and cause him to flee, in accordance with Your word in James 4:7. In Jesus name, amen.
