Part 2 on Finding Your Purpose in a Chaotic World. Purpose is linked to many things. Some people are called to the arts, music, ministry or a variety of other things. How can you know where you fit? If you missed the article on Finding Your Purpose in a Chaotic World, go back and read yesterday's post. This is a continuation on the same subject, a little different application. We will be going through this same topic for a while so that people can understand more about finding purpose and how their gifts and talents are placed there by God as a means of directing them to fulfilling the plan of God for their life. Before we embark on today's lesson, let's take a look at some important background information concerning God's covenant with Abraham and how it applies to us. (Genesis 12:1-3.)
IF Abraham was obedient (Get out of your father’s house, go on a journey with God)…then all the covenant promises would be fulfilled. The rest of the promises hinge upon obedience to what God tells you to do.
1. Promise of multiplication (many descendants). Also long and healthy life. Gen. 15:15 & 24:1
2. Blessing, wealth & importance. Gen. 13:2
3. Fame or honor
4. A blessing to others
5. Those who curse you cursed by God (divine protection & retribution to enemies) He is a shield of protection, Gen. 15:1 and our great reward
6. Limitless opportunities to bless others
Why is God’s covenant with Abraham important to us? Because this promise was not limited to Abraham; it was promised to Abraham’s seed through Issac, his son. Abraham had two sons, Ishmael & Issac. The son of promise came by faith. By it's very nature, genuine faith is an act of humility. If you know anything about faith, it's that it requires risk. Total dependence on God. Pride cannot wait on God. Pride will cause people to try to work their own solution to a problem but as Abraham discovered, trying to make a promise come to pass on our own efforts can bring forth an Ishmael that causes great consternation and problems for a long time afterward. Pride assumes one can do whatever they please and have God bless their efforts. Pride keeps us from receiving what’s ours through God's promise - but His promise is only fulfilled by faith and patience. Pride often masquerades as fear and resists believing God. It sounds so logical but logic will talk us out of obedience and logic will talk us out of taking a step of faith. Pride masquerades as fear to keep us in indecision after we clearly know that God has spoken to us. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. True humility is believing God, trusting Him and obedience even though it requires great risk on our part. We are inheritors of the covenant promises because we come by faith, choosing God's methods above our own.

Abraham’s promise came to Issac, and Isaac also learned what it was to trust God and walk by faith. God showed up in Gen. 26:23 and renewed the covenant with Issac. Isaac prospered just like his father. It was a generational blessing that continued because they walked in faith. Even the men of the community recognized that Isaac prospered because God was with him. (Read Gen. 26:28)
Many years later, along came Isaac’s son, Jacob. Jacob worked a sly deal with his brother, Esau, and scammed him out of the first born blessing, then ran to his uncle’s house a long way off to hide from the wrath of his brother. During this time, Jacob met Uncle Laban’s daughter and fell in love. He ended up working for Laban for many years but the whole time Laban was deceitful and kept changing Jacob’s wages. Many times over, Laban convinced Jacob to stay but look at his reason why! “Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that the Lord has blessed me for your sake.” Gen. 30:27. (Here comes the moment Jacob has been waiting for!) Laban says, “Name your wages and I will give it.”
Let me just interject something here. An old proverb states “Necessity is the mother of invention.” Another quote by play writer George Chapman states, “The great mother of all productions is grave necessity.”
Great leaders do not emerge when things are running smoothly. Great leaders emerge in times of crisis, chaos and when there is a great need for change. You must learn to look at discomfort and frustration as opportunities for change, and those unmet needs as indicators to start looking for answers outside the box. YOU WILL NEVER FIND THE ANSWER YOU NEED INSIDE THE BOX OF ALL YOUR LIMITATIONS. You will never find the answer you need if your God is too small. If God isn’t big enough to bust out of your religious theology and comfort zone, then you have put Him in a box and tied His hands. HE WILL NOT WORK UNTIL YOU TAKE THE LIMITS OFF. You have to tell Him it’s ok to do some changing around and let Him lead. Ask Him to be Lord of all your impossible situations!
He longs to be BIG in your life! He longs to hear his children ask Him to do things so big that they can’t possibly do it on their own strength. He puts us in impossible situations so that we have to ask Him to do the impossible. If we’re too afraid of looking foolish or getting out on a limb, then what we’re saying is, my pride and my comfort zone is more important that really letting You get the glory for doing something great in my life. This is where faith is activated, and faith is the commodity of the kingdom. It's the only real currency you will ever need to operate in God's economy.
Difficult situations are the opportunity we need to inspire creative solutions. Ingenious solutions. Difficult times require inspired ideas for change. Unless we are pressed to do something different, we won’t look for a new solution. You literally need to be between a rock and a hard place in order to get a miracle. In other words, if there is no need for a miracle, you won’t get one. Discovery of creative solutions often contain the same elements of being pressed by your circumstances. Discomfort in your situation is God’s gift to you to inspire the change He wants to bring!
The discomfort of Jacob’s situation made him want to run from it, but in the midst of his troubles, an angel showed up in a dream one night and gave Jacob the strategy to outwit the guy that was swindling him out of wages and peace of mind. No doubt Jacob prayed for a solution, although the scripture doesn‘t specifically state that. He knew God because Jacob had encountered him many years before. It stands to reason that although the scripture doesn’t state it, Jacob had been praying. After all, an angelic encounter is often the result of answered prayer! I believe it wasn’t just the covenant with God that gave Jacob success but it was a generational inheritance of anointing for business that Jacob received from his father, Issac. His grandfather, Abraham had it and was very wealthy. Jacob inherited a lot from his father and grandfather including the knowledge of how to excel in multiplying flocks. That was one of the commodities of their day.
There were many years of Jacob getting a taste of his own medicine, which in the process of time served to humble him and change his nature. Jacob had to have realized that what Laban was doing to him was along the same line of what he had done to his brother. But even with all that, God still hated injustice, and Laban was acting unjustly towards Jacob. You see, Jacob was God’s son, but it doesn’t say that Laban was. They were in the same family line but they didn’t have the same God. Laban worshiped idols. So one day God shows up in a dream and gives Jacob a strategy to improve his business that begins to help him recover his losses. Read Gen. 31:11. But Jacob didn’t share that tip with even his wives until he had gotten very prosperous because of it.
What is interesting here is that Jacob’s name meant “he who supplants.” It meant one who gained by deceit and trickery. Then God showed up and turned it around to show a positive meaning, “The Lord supplants.” That word means displacement. Proverbs 13:11 says “Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished.” God was about to diminish Laban’s wealth because it was gained by dishonesty. Hear me now! This is important if you are an employer! God looks at how you gain your wealth and at what cost. Who is paying the price for your success? Who are you stepping on? Are you treating others fairly? Laban had changed Jacob’s wages many times over. Have you ever had a boss offer an incentive when times were hard, trying to get you to work harder - then when he got the blessing in the house he changed his mind and gave you less than what was promised? That’s greed and dishonesty, and those that operate their business by taking unfair advantage of others will find their finances slipping through their fingers because they are not honoring their promises. The cries of their laborers is coming before the Lord of Hosts. Prov. 13:22 says that the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous. That’s us. God wants to give us strategy for success in business that will supplant, or displace those that gain their living by deceit and trickery and let us inherit that wealth. Wealth never goes away, it just changes hands. Strategy allows us to understand how we can partner with God to have those finances change hands and make it into ours. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLES OF GOD, YOU WILL NEVER EFFECTIVELY OPERATE IN THE ECONOMY OF GOD. God is under no obligation to bless those that don’t know Him, and He is under no obligation to bless those that have no interest in serving Him. He is obligated by His oath and covenant to those that covenant with Him. (re-read chapters 12-15 of Genesis).
God has said in Deut. 8 that He takes us through the wilderness to test us and humble us so that we would know that man does not live by bread alone (our needs being met) but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. He wants to know that we will follow instructions! He said he did it in order to do us good in the end. So there are times where our trust in God is tested, our integrity and character are tested, and we learn to change our behavior so that it aligns with faith and God’s character. If we do not have sufficient character, which includes generosity and compassion towards others in need, we will be stingy. We will not be the blessing to others that God requires us to be. We will allow roots of greed and the love of money to corrupt character and horde the blessings instead of releasing them to others. That is why it is so important to BLESS and SOW in times of famine. You sow your way out of every wilderness season. Don’t let fear impoverish your future or your harvest. If you don’t sow you can’t reap. If you don’t sow you demonstrate to God that you are not yet trustworthy to handle greater riches. Those can be some lean years - but after we pass the tests, God’s intention is that we would be able to inherit wealth. Deut. 8:18 says, “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, (WHY?) that He may establish His covenant, which He swore to your fathers as it is this day.” It’s the same covenant with the same promises as He made to Abraham.
In the practical that may equate to receiving raises, promotions or bonuses; including a new job, gaining new clients or contracts, and God’s favor to bring increase to Christian businesses. He always made Israel to stand out and be so blessed that others would know they were blessed because God was with them. Laban was shrewd, but he wasn’t wise. If he had any wisdom at all, he would have inquired and wanted to have a personal relationship with the very God that was blessing Jacob, but he only wanted the financial gain. Laban understood that he was getting blessed because of Jacob’s God and didn’t want him to go; not because he wanted to know the God who fought for Israel but because he wanted the financial increase to remain in his house. God will not be used like some talisman for good luck. He wants to prosper His children, but He also knows what motivates us. He knows if wealth is our treasure and the love of money or if it’s really Him. We have to make sure our priorities are in the right place. One of those priorities is to ask for wisdom. Solomon was blessed with wisdom but he had the sense to ask for more. He didn’t ask for riches; he asked for wisdom to know how to govern God’s people, and because he asked for wisdom, God gave him everything else he didn’t ask for - everything, by the way, that is contained in the covenant promise: wealth, fame, honor, blessing to be a blessing to others, land, property, etc. You would not give a great deal of wealth to a child, a person that had a poverty mentality, addictions, or someone that was a chronic homeless. Why not? Because they would not have the wisdom to know how to manage kingdom wealth or resources. Good intentions are not enough. You must be tried in the furnace of affliction and go through certain tests because only a person that has suffered will understand humility and compassion towards others. If you never understand what it feels like to be in a humble place and have to receive from others, you will never learn how to bless others without making them feel small. God wants us to give, but not at the cost of depriving others of their dignity. Wealth without the wisdom to know what to do with it will result in it slipping right out of a person’s hands. ASK for WISDOM before you ask for anything else. Demonstrate to God that you understand what is truly important.

Father God,
I ask You for wisdom to know how to correctly handle any situation I may encounter. I need wisdom and strategy in order to be successful in my future, and even just in my daily life with my family, work and personal relationships. But I also ask You for strategy to succeed in business, sensitivity to Your Spirit, to know how to correctly understand what You're communicating, and a heart that is quick to obey You. I ask You for wisdom to know what to do and how to manage what ever success You allow me to have. I acknowledge it is You that gives me power to gain wealth, Lord. Help me to have the quality of character that pleases You so that I can be a blessing to others. I also ask You to increase my faith so that I will not shrink back when taking a great risk is required of me. Show me how to prosper Your way, Lord Jesus. I thank You for helping me find my purpose and walk into the newness of whatever You have planned for me. In Jesus name, amen.
God's Power to Heal the Brain
Thoughts Produce A Corresponding Action: Physically, Spiritually, Emotionally and Behaviorally
Seratonin functions as a regulator for your body's physiology so that your body can sleep and attain rest. Without seratonin doing it's job properly, you will not be able to sleep well no matter what you do. It is responsible for keeping your body clock and your bodily functions coordinated. It also regulates your stress fighting hormone called cortisol. Any disruption in your cortisol also affects the body's ability to regulate proper sleep cycles. It literally shifts the body to be in a state of stress. One of the first signs of being under stress is the lost ability to sleep well. Noradrenalin is responsible for setting the body's energy levels. Without it, a person feels tired, exhausted and can become increasingly more and more lethargic. (Another symptom of depression). Norepinephrine influences sleep; Epinephrine is a stress hormone and a neurotransmitter, and Dopamine functions as a pleasure center. It is the area of your brain that allows you to experience enjoyment, pleasure and a sense of satisfaction in life, but it also can act to reinforce addictive behaviors and can influence psychotic behaviors. There are other numerous brain chemicals also that can attribute to dysfunction, depression, addiction and other physical and emotional problems.
When the body goes into an overstressed mode, the person often experiences things such as overwhelming heaviness and discouragement, tiredness, lack of desire for life, activity or social contact; they feel overwhelmed and depressed. They may also feel nervous, experience shortness of breath, feel like they are having a heart attack or feel like they are having an anxiety attack. Overstressed individuals are often labeled as having a form of mental illness and may be prescribed medicine, but we as Christians can also pray specifically for God to heal the brain and any chemical imbalances that might be causing these emotional responses. Medications will always require refills if the source of the problem is not healed. Let's trust God to do that, no matter how impossible it may seem. Nothing is too difficult for Him!

How It Connects to Impulse ControlA lack of being able to effectively manage stress is also a common trigger for addicts to relapse. Our body consists of the physical, emotional and spiritual which makes up our entire being. Human beings are hardwired to be spiritually connected to our higher source, which is our Creator. Father God made us in His image (see Genesis 1:26-28) and when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, God's Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us, reconnecting us with our Heavenly Father. When the body is overstressed, it is very difficult indeed for a person to be able to connect meaningfully with God. Overstress causes the body to go into a state of agitation; when the overproduction of cortisol is present, the body actually gets ready for war. It's ready to go into a higher state of emotional response such as fight or flight, hunger, trauma, expectation of fear or pain and other things. This is why emotional triggers seem to set a person off very quickly. Remember, the cerebral cortex is where emotional responses are activated. The cerebral cortex is also the place in the brain that has the "stop" function. It is the part of the brain that tells a person when to stop certain negative behavior. A normal healthy person would have common sense kick and and set off a "stop button" - for instance, telling them, don't go kill that person or don't commit an act of rage, etc. In a normal healthy person that button works to tell people to stop over consumption of certain things but in an addict, that 'stop button' is broken. Excessive use causes a tolerance to build up in the pleasure sensors, so the person needs more and more of that particular thing in order to feel pleasure. Its like trying to obtain the unattainable, which is why an addict will continue to use over and over again even at risk of consuming lethal doses of whatever they are addicted to. It's not a self will issue, it's a physiological and spiritual issue. The neurotransmitters actually get rewired at the cellular level in an unhealthy way. All this occurs on a subconscious level where we are not aware of what is happening. these are triggers to causing a person to feel overwhelmed, resentful, frustrated, angry or emotional - and often a trigger for addictive relapse. All of these factors working together can cause a host of other emotional, some physical and physiological problems. Ultimately though, addictions are due to several spiritual components that cannot be ignored. Demonic spirits known as Bondage, Pharmacia, Illusion, and the spirit of Alcoholism are tied together with Unloving spirits, spirits of Abandonment, Rejection, Self-Hatred, Rebellion, Unforgiveness and Bitterness. So, there is a need for deliverance and inner healing just as much as praying for the physical components. Every addict I've ever counseled has unresolved bitterness, unforgiveness, and toxic thinking which also comes from a deep bitterness of feeling abandoned, unsupported, unloved and unaccepted, usually connected to parental issues, dysfunction and instability in their childhood. These are unhealed offenses that must be dealt with through forgiveness.
Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to crafting a prayer to target specific areas of healing the brain. There can be accidents, trauma, head injury and more issues when it comes to needing healing for the brain. I can't tackle all of them today, but we can address some of the more common problems people deal with. Regardless of the cause, there are legitimate issues that can be healed with the power of prayer. How often people try to manage what is simply the fruit of the problem (the symptoms and behaviors) without dealing with the root of the problem, and the root of depression, addictions and many other things that can be attributed to an imbalance of brain chemicals is fear. Fear always magnifies itself. It is the root of anxiety, frustration, impatience, anger, depression and every wrong thought process. Fear is what causes cortisol to be over produced. Fear will send the adrenal glands into stress mode and cause a domino effect of a whole host of other physical problems. Fear is also the culprit when it comes to toxic thinking. Continued negative thought processes leads to depression and other mental illness, and can even change brain chemicals. Defective genetics and DNA that carries a curse in the cellular makeup can be targeted with our prayers, and there is now medical proof that things we once thought we were resigned to live with can be changed by the power of changing our thoughts and prayer.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image. Any defect came as a result of inherited sin carried a curse and was reproduced as a genetic defect in the DNA. This deals with the physical aspects, but we still need to address the spiritual part of the remedy, and that is the revelation of our Heavenly Father's love and acceptance. The Bible says in 1 John 4:18 that perfect love casts out all fear. Begin to delcare this as your reality. God's love and acceptance is so powerful that it will displace the wrong thoughts, fears, and insecurities that trigger the negative thinking that makes room for physical and emotional illness. Love displaces depression, anger, anxiety, insecurities, and many, many other problems. There is no reason why God should not heal because Jesus Christ paid the price for our total and complete victory, healing and restoration!
THE FOLLOWING IS A PRAYER TO HEAL THE BRAIN and RESTORE MENTAL HEALTH.
Father God,
I thank You for Your Holy Spirit that gives me wisdom to know what to ask for in prayer. I pray for myself and ask You to send the answer to prayer to _____. (You can also pray this over others).
I renounce fear, depression, anxiety, and addictive behaviors. I renounce and repent for any ways I have come into agreement with the enemy. I renounce demonic spirits known as Bondage, Pharmacia, Illusion, and the spirit of Alcoholism. I renounce Unloving spirits, the spirit of Abandonment, Rejection, Self-Hatred, Rebellion, Unforgiveness and Bitterness. I break every agreement I have made knowingly and unknowingly with those spirits and tell them to leave me now, in Jesus's name. I command all lying, familiar spirits related to hearing voices, auditory and visual hallucinations, be gone in Jesus' name. Go back to the abyss where you belong! Thank You Jesus for your forgiveness and restoration. I believe You are the Son of God and You can heal me. You took my sin and disease upon yourself so that I could live victoriously. Please help me live freely. Let faith rise up in me and Your Holy Spirit fill me with wholeness, power and the fullness of God.
I ask that You would heal the cerebral cortex in (my/_____'s) brain. I ask that You would fill any areas of deficiency with the fullness of Your Holy Spirit. Let the brain chemicals of seratonin, noradrenalin, norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine and all chemicals produced by the brain be correctly balanced. Let every deficiency be filled and every over secretion be reduced to just the right levels for each individual. Let there be no over production of cortisol. Let every amino acid neurotransmitter function with perfect wholeness and soundness as it is in Jesus Christ. Let every gene that carried defective or mutated DNA that would perpetuate weakness, compromised health, mental instability or that which carries the result of a curse be healed at the cellular level. Infuse every cell, every gene, every strand of DNA with the DNA and healing of Jesus Christ. Let every curse be broken and sent back to the source, for You O God did not give me/______ any DNA that would carry a curse. It came from the evil one, and as I submit to Your authority, I resist the devil and command him to take back everything that he has brought upon me. I pray that any damage to the brain itself, the neurotransmitters, and the centers for impulse control in the cerebral cortex be healed now in Jesus name.
Let there be truth, light, and revelation be released in every darkened area of the brain, thought patterns and emotional responses. Heal the memories stored in the branches of the nerves. Recreate the nerve pathways and the nerve trees in perfect health. I declare new nerve tissue be formed now in Jesus's name. Let good, strong, positive memories overpower negative, destructive thoughts until the toxic thoughts are no longer present. I command all toxic thoughts and memories to be supernaturally removed from the nerve networks in Jesus's name. I speak the name of Jesus Christ into every stronghold in ______'s life and I ask that Your Holy Spirit expose the lies that _______ has believed. Let every stronghold crumble now, and I command every spirit of darkness to loose ______ now in Jesus's name. I declare and decree that Your Word is truth, and _______'s body, mind and soul must submit to the truth.
I declare You have healed me/_____ according to Jeremiah 17:14, James 5:14,15, and Exodus 23:25.
I declare You have restored ____ to health and healed their wounds, whether physical or emotional, according to Jeremiah 30:17 and Isaiah 53:5.
I delcare that _____'s spirit is not crushed, but is full of laughter that is like medicine, according to Prov. 17:22.
I declare that as ______ has confessed their sins, that according to James 5:6 they are healed.
I declare the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guards _____'s mind and heart, and their heart is not troubled according to John 14:27.
I declare Your perfect love has cast out all fear according to 1 John 4:18.
I declare according to Psalm 30:2 that as ______ has called to you for help, You have healed them.
I declare that I will meditate on the word of God, as it is written in Phil. 4:8, “Whatever is true, whatever is worthy or reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there be any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].”
I speak to the amino acid and peptide neurotransmitters and tell them to be rewired to function in perfect health and send the proper amounts of chemicals to regulate impulse control, stress management, peace, pleasure and pain management in perfect balance.
Let the acytlcholine functions be healed and restored to perfect health.
Let the chemical agents and the communication messengers between brain cells function in perfect harmony, balance and soundness in every cell.
Let all things in the molecular structure that affect mood, anxiety, appetite, sleep, temperature, heart rate, self control, discernment, impulse control, aggression, fear, stress management and other physical and psychological appetites, desires and occurrences be healed and restored to the perfect wholeness that exists in Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit, let Your fullness fill my lack, for it is written, "the Lord is my Shepherd and I shall have no lack," according to Ps. 23:1.
Let all areas that have been damaged, those areas that are genetically unsound, weak, impaired or afflicted be healed, for it is written, "Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed," in Is. 53:4, 5.
Lord Jesus, You told us, Your disciples, to lay hands on the sick and they would recover, (Mark 16:18). You said in John 14:7 and again in John 14:16 that if we abide in You, we could ask whatever we desire in Your name and Your Father would do it, because it would bring glory to Your name. So I ask that I would be healed in the cellular, molecular level of my/_____'s genes, in my DNA, and that anything that resides there that is not of Your placement, nor Your will be supernaturally removed, replaced with Your fullness and restored to perfect health right now, in Jesus name.
Holy Spirit, please give me /______ a revelation of my heavenly Father's love and acceptance so that perfect love will cast out all fear. Reveal the Father's heart towards me/them. Show me/them their truest identity as it is in Christ. Lead me/them to the salvation that is through Jesus Christ. I thank You and give You glory for the healing that is taking place now in Jesus name. Amen.

Heavenly Father,
Help us shut the enemy out of our marriage and

dishonoring one another. We repent for any ways that we have rejected or

will not bring up old issues. We will not continue to blame each other for

There are some things that God just cannot bless. He won't bless dishonesty, greed, oppression, or lack of integrity. The devil might, but God won't. He does bless those that earnestly seek Him and want to run their business with honesty and integrity, and He will go out of His way to bless those that remember to give back to others generously.
The kingdom of God operates on faith, love and generosity. In order to receive, you have to give. In order to reap, you need to sow. Forgiveness enters into the business realm, too. Sometimes you will need to forgive someone else's debt and show mercy rather than trying to exact every penny from someone that cannot afford to repay you. Please share this prayer so that others can prosper too. When businesses prosper, it doesn't just help a few individuals; it helps the economy. The government is not our answer. There is no stability in an unstable, divided government. Prayer is the answer. With God, all things are possible.
Encountering The Lord Of Breakthrough
Jan. 12. Today we take the focus off of our own needs and focus on others. God doesn’t ask us to do something we cannot, or give something we don’t
have. He just asks us to share what we have or do what we are able to do. Acts chapter 10 tells a wonderful story of a man named Cornelius who was remembered in heaven for his kindness to the poor. It moved heaven to do something on his behalf, and God sent an angel to tell him that God was getting ready to bless him and his household! There is also a wonderful story of a very poor woman in 1 Kings 17:8 that was so discouraged over her poverty, that she had given up all hope and was preparing to die. God sent one of His servants to her and his prophet asked for a bite to eat. The poor widow woman had nothing but a little flour and oil that with which she had made a small loaf of bread. It was hardly enough for herself much less feed her son and this man of God as well. She initially protested that she did not have enough, then the prophet encouraged her faith by telling her if she was obedient to his request, her flour and oil would not run dry and she would have enough to carry her through the famine. It's when we are truly in need ourselves and give as a sacrifice that we are really tested. Those kind of tests never come at a convenient time! But if we can deny our fears and tendency to be selfish, our selflessness and acts of kindness to others causes God to release a blessing back to us. "When you lend to the poor, you lend to the Lord and He will repay!" Withholding what is in our hand leads to poverty, but generosity unlocks the resources of heaven. What a motivator to find ways to bless!
Some years back, we got down to our last meal. All I had was a small tuna casserole, yet all morning long I had prayed to ask God to give me some idea that was anointed for breakthrough. When lunch time came, I started fixing the casserole, not knowing how I was going to feed my family that night. We were desperate for a breakthrough! Then I remembered this story from 1 Kings and I told my husband we needed to go find some homeless people to feed. We were willing to fast that meal and give it as an offering to the Lord. Little did we know that it would have a domino effect and set off a chain of events that we NEVER could have anticipated! God did supply and we never went hungry, but others found out what we had done and they wanted to help feed the poor also. So the next week, we had more food to share and we went to feed the homeless again. Each week, God multiplied resources and started providing for this little gesture of faith to our community. About the third week, God set us up. We were in one of the downtown parks in Pensacola and little did we know there had been this long standing war of sorts between the homeless, the downtown business owners, and the city manager's office. Things had gotten pretty heated as those who had clout and a loud voice made themselves known to the City Manager. And there we were, unknowingly being observed by the local business owners who were hot under the collar about us feeding the homeless in the very area where they wanted them removed. The Pensacola Independent News reported, [Wednesday, October 3, 2007 - Norm and Laura Gagnon and two friends were asked to abandon their attempt to feed the homeless in Plaza Ferdinand in downtown Pensacola after a complaint was phoned into the police. The Gagnons did not have the proper permits to hold a gathering in the city park and pass out 50 meals." Police were called to kick us out of the park but that wasn't all. Reporters just happened to have heard about us and were there observing the whole thing too. It hit the front page of the local Pensacola paper and the blog comments went crazy. So crazy, in fact, that the next day we got a phone call from the City Manager asking us to come in and meet with him. (A little intimidating, I might add!) But the crazy thing is, my husband heard the Lord tell him to ask for the premier park downtown to hold a crusade so that we could involve even more of the city and feed the poor. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! But the City Manager just wanted the whole thing to go away, and there was a lot of pressure from a lot of different people to smooth things over. So guess what? None of this had been thought about before we got there. Totally spontaneous act of faith. We had no money. We were pretty much nobodies without a clue how to get this done, and here is my husband asking the City Manager for a park to hold an evangelistic outreach event. Believe it or not, the man said YES. So then we had to go home and think about what we had just done. I asked my husband if he was crazy. He shook his head and said he probably was, but He heard the Lord. Friend, let me tell you, we didn't hold just one crusade, we had two. The first event was held December 1, 2007 and it was put together in 52 days. (It literally became a Nehemiah event. If you read the book of Nehemiah, people came together to both pray, and build the walls that had been torn down. The walls to the city were re-built in 52 days!!). The second event was even bigger and I thought at first God wasn't going to do anything at all. But He was testing people to see if they would drop their own agendas and pick up His. For several weeks absolutely nothing happened. No phone calls, no emails...It finally came together in the last two weeks, just as we thought we might have to cancel! We fed over 600 people that day and made many prayers and declarations over the city. It was awesome. We even kicked off the event by marrying a homeless couple! On top of all this, the City fathers threw in a park where we could feed the homeless every week. They waived the permits and the fees. The body of Christ stepped up and provided everything that was needed. It brought churches together, bridged the gap between the homeless, who had many needs, and God shined the light on His body that came together to bless the less fortunate members of society. Norm became this voice of mediation between the homeless, the police department and the City Manager. I have so many more testimonies I could share. People getting healed, the local crack house family getting saved and delivered when they came out to get food, families being reunited, runaway teens going back home, miracle healings...so much happened that never would have happened if it hadn't been for a sacrificial tuna casserole. I apologize for the length of this post but I say all this to encourage you...you will never know what God has in store for you if you don't release what is in your hand! It might just set off a domino effect that is so much bigger than anything you could ever even dream up. This is the God that makes good on His promise to do exceedingly more than we could ask or imagine. The Bible tells us, "Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked." (Ps. 82:3,4). Our wonderful Father instructs us to loose the bonds of wickedness, undo the heavy burdens, let the oppressed go free and break every yoke. We are told to share our bread with the hungry, help shelter the poor who are cast out and have no place to go, to clothe those that need it and stop turning a blind eye from those in want. (Is. 58:6,7). When we do something kind for someone that cannot repay us, God breaks through as the Lord of Breakthrough on our behalf. Read His promise in the next verses of Is. 58:8,9. “Then your light shall break forth like the morning; your healing shall spring forth speedily and your righteousness shall go before you. The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call and the Lord will answer; you shall cry and He will say, “Here I AM.” I can tell you from experience this really works. We have many testimonies of sacrificial giving triggering a breakthrough!
Pray: Today I ask You, Father, to give me inspired ideas, creative ideas that are anointed for breakthrough. Lead me to those that You want me to do something for, and help me understand their need. Help me to ‘pay it forward’ and be a blessing to others. Help me to inspire others to do the same. Lord, let my faith be contagious to others! I thank You in advance for divine connections, inspired ideas, and courage to step out in new ways of faith. In Jesus name, Amen.

More Love, More Power
Jan.4. I have been given the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, according to Luke 10:18. Nothing shall hurt me because my life is hidden in Christ. You have made me to have dominion over the works of your hands and You have put all things under my feet, (Ps. 8:6). Yet, the greatest commandment is to love the Lord my God with all my heart, mind, and soul and love my neighbor as myself. There is an important connection between displaying the power of God in our lives and walking in love. All believers have been given authority; but God entrusts power to those that won't misuse it, and that comes from knowing His heart, His ways, and walking in love. Jesus walked in compassion and great miracles took place. Although He had great power, He did not use it to injure others or misuse the authority and power that had been given to Him. Neither should we. This is why we go through seasons of brokenness, barrenness, stretching, testing, and trials of every variety. A heart that has not been broken of pride, arrogance, and judgment will tend to misuse authority. A heart that has not been healed of past wounds, fears and offenses will reproduce it into others. Love comes from a heart that is sensitive to the pains and struggles of others, and is humble and not looking to judge others. Love and compassion are birthed from struggles, temptations, failures and the grace that God pours in to heal our brokenness. A heart that has been forgiven much, loves much - not just God, but others, too. The testings are there to see if we will refuse retaliation, they give us opportunities to deny our flesh and walk in the Spirit. Challenges demand a response, whether we will respond in faith and love. Where you see great love, you will also find great miracles! When we walk in love, God's power in our life increases.

Pray: Father, Help me not to miss the opportunities to demonstrate love. Help me subdue my flesh rather than respond out of impatience, anger, or offense. Help me to remember who I am in Christ and that I am full of YOUR Holy Spirit that enables me to love others. Give me eyes to see who needs to be loved each day.
Holy Spirit, I cannot do it without You. Enable me each day to walk in love I pray, for it is written, ‘Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.’ (Eph. 4:32)
I declare the love of God has been poured out into my heart by the Holy Spirit as it is written in Romans 5:5 and I walk in Divine Love. This love increases more and more each day and brings with it the ministry of reconciliation.

Tearing Down Strongholds
My hope for each person is that shame and fear of being judged do not keep them in bondage. So many people stay locked up in chains to their secret sins because they are too ashamed to admit to another person their need for help. People already feel disappointed in themselves because they often "know better," but have gotten themselves stuck and in bondage with the enemy. They fear the responses of others and don't want to be a disappointment to the people they love, admire or respect. Sure, we all know better. But sometimes we all need God's abundant grace and someone to demonstrate a non-judgmental attitude so that we can get free. Please let me urge you today to bring your problems to Jesus. He is there to give you the help you need!
No one needs to tell you what your secret sin is. Each person knows if there is something in their life that they have tried to get the victory over. Are you one that still struggles with some area of weakness in your life? Whether it is the gossip that cannot help but disclose the latest news she’s heard, or the person that loves to whisper about others just to get a reaction or stir up trouble; whether it is the addict that finds themselves turning to counterfeit means to alter their mood or escape reality; or the person addicted to sex, pornography or unclean fantasy thoughts; perhaps it is the person that simply cannot get the victory over anger, lying, fault finding, or some other negative behavior, all of these things have the addictive ability to create strongholds in a person's mind. A stronghold is created when our thoughts and areas of our belief system do not line up with the truth of God's word. The enemy appeals to our reason and emotion so that he can get us to live in the flesh. It may not be in every area of a person's life; but even if it's just a one or two areas of compromise he still has an open door. Remember, the art of all spiritual warfare is based on the ability to deceive. The enemy's lies make a person's thinking crooked, or twisted. He perverts truth in an attempt to appeal to our reason, intellect and emotion. All warfare is simply the enemy's attempt to influence a person to agree with him instead of a spirit of faith. This is how he is able to steal the promises of God and get them to actually agree to enthrone him in their heart and life! The only hope the enemy has is to convince people to listen to their emotions rather than hold fast to what God has said. He can only deceive us if he is able to create a false illusion, wrong mindset or belief system. Shake it off! That is why the scripture in James 3:16 & 17 warns that earthly wisdom is 'demonic and sensual;' it appeals to a person's flesh and emotions rather than elevating them to a place in the Spirit where they operate out of divine wisdom, faith, and obedience to God's word. These "strongholds" may seem relatively inconsequencial, especially if the person that is captivated by these sort of lying spirits, negative thoughts and behaviors thinks they are not harming anyone else; but that is usually not the reality, even if the person doesn't want to acknowledge the truth. I want you to know that anyone can get the victory over these things - IF THEY CHOOSE TO BE HEALED.
That is always the question each person must face. Do we really want to be healed of the thing that keeps us in bondage? All sin has the element of pleasure or it wouldn’t be able to entice a person to keep doing it. And as much as one chooses to give away their dominion to the enemy, God will let them do it. He has given all authority to His disciples. If a person chooses to give it away, eventually sin will increase in a person's life until masters besides God will have dominion in certain areas of their life. But know this: the enemy does not want just you. He wants your family. He wants your children’s future, and your grandchildren. He wants your church, those in your workplace and far beyond even them. A stronghold is a place where the enemy has built a fortress. Imagine it like a castle, if you will. You can't see it, but it's there, and the enemy is flying his flag letting the spirit realm know it's his domain. Every area where we refuse to let Jesus reign is a place the enemy will occupy. He plots his takeover and delights in the thought of displacing Jesus in the life of the believer. Every stronghold is constructed out of lies that go unchallenged and behavior that is allowed to go unchecked. Every stronghold that the enemy occupies is a place where the enemy stands to mock God and reproach you. He gloats, he scoffs at your ability to over throw him and remove him off of his high place. Every place where he is allowed to do this continues to grow and expand as he brings in more and more enemy troops to occupy your promise land. He has laid a claim to it as though it’s his own but in fact he is an encroacher that must be evicted. Isn't it time to dismantle his stronghold?
You cannot ‘think’ it down. You cannot mentally determine to conquer a spiritual force with spiritual authority by your own will. Flesh cannot fight spirit and win. It’s also ridiculous to think that one can defeat the enemy without the right weapons. There is only one way to defeat the enemy and that is the way Jesus did it; by speaking out the word of God with authority. Review the temptations of Jesus in the Gospels. Jesus spoke God's Word to combat and overcome Satan and his temptations, and you can too! Friend, what is your area of temptation? You must find the right scriptures to fight with, those that address the nature of the temptation. Then,…
Declare what GOD has said, and stop listening to a liar, thief and murderer. Satan will do everything he can to kill off your good future and keep you from inheriting your destiny! Satan is the Father of all lies. He is the seducer, the adulterous spirit that wants to entice you into a way that is hard to come back from. His words are smoother than oil but in the end it will be as bitter as wormwood. If he is enticing you to commit adultery (spiritual or otherwise), or elevate an idol in your life, Tell him, “Satan, your words and suggestions are those of the immoral woman. They are only intended to lead me down a wrong path and it is written, “Do not go near the door of her house.” (Prov. 5:4,8) He is the violent one that attempts to lead you in a way that is not good. He is the perverse spirit that twists truth and attempts to appeal to your reason so that he can bring about evil. When he tries to lead you astray, respond with, “No, enemy, “a man’s heart may plan his steps but it is the Lord that will direct my steps. (Prov. 16:9) You say, "Jesus, direct my steps away from this temptation now,” for it is written, “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil and he who keeps his way preserves his soul.” (Prov. 16:17) “Help me to be one who heeds the word wisely and find good. I am putting my trust in You."
When the enemy accuses you of giving in to the very thing he tempted you to do, run to God and confess your sin. Don’t let condemnation overwhelm you. He is faithful and just to forgive your sins and cleanse you of all unrighteousness when you come to Him! (1 John 1:9) Declare, “God is my strong tower and a shelter to me. I will abide in his tabernacle forever. I will trust in the shadow of His wings.” (Ps. 61:3). “God is my defense, my God of mercy.” His mercies are new every day. His grace is sufficient for me. I will overcome this area of weakness in my life, in Jesus name.” God’s grace is big enough to cover your failures and help you back up!
Don’t let the enemy lie to you and tell you that you cannot tear down his stronghold, or that it must take a long, arduous process to do it. Whether it is dismantled brick by brick or God decides to blow it up all at once, recognize it is yet another one of the enemy’s lies. Respond with, “No, Satan. You are evicted this day! Your stronghold will collapse THIS day, for it is written, ‘Nothing shall be impossible with God.’ (Luke 1:37).” Remember Jericho! The walls fell down flat in one day! The truth is, when we feel weak, frustrated at our own inability to change or conquer what seemingly has us in bondage, that is the time when God has led you to confront the enemy’s stronghold so that it can be torn down. The truth is, “A wise man scales the city of the mighty and brings down the trusted stronghold.” (Prov. 21:22). Who is trusting in their stronghold? The enemy! The truth is, “Our righteous God overthrows the house of the wicked,” (Prov. 21:22). Through God we shall do valiantly, for it is He that shall tread down our enemies! (Prov. 108:13). Do you know what's going to happen? You are going to say, "I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightening!" Declare today, "He is coming down from his high place where he has exalted himself and gloated." Believe it! The truth is, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and cast into the sea,' and it would obey you." (Luke 17:5,6) Friend, do you have faith even as little as a mustard seed? Of course you do, because Jesus planted it there! So you can name the problem you want plucked up and cast into the sea. Sometimes the problem looks like a giant because it just has such a grip on the person doing it. You can even start with commanding that evil desire for whatever it is to be plucked up and thrown into the sea. If it's a desire that you know God did not give you, or that person you're praying for, then yes, it's evil and needs to go. Take alcohol or drugs, for example. God didn't plant that in your generational line; Satan did. Declare the desire for (alcohol, drugs, gossip, lying, etc.), whatever that thing is, command that evil rooted problem to be plucked up and cast out of the person and thrown into the sea - and it must obey you!! Even if it doesn't happen overnight, keep declaring the problem must be plucked up and cast into the sea. You might not see it happen, and you might not even know when it actually occurs, but trust Jesus to be faithful to watch over His word. It will happen! Then also command a good tree or a holy desire to be planted in it's place. When ever you uproot evil, you must also plant something pure and godly in it's place.
Stop feeling helpless. God has given you a transfer of HIS AUTHORITY so that you and others you pray for can live victoriously! Satan is a scoffer and a God-mocker. It is written, “Cast out the scoffer and contention will leave. Strife and reproach will cease,” (Prov. 22:10). Declare today, “Scoffer, be gone in Jesus name!” When the enemy lies and smirks and suggests you are too weak to overcome him, boldly declare, "when I am weak, then Jesus is strong, and greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world!" (1 John 4:4) No enemy, you shall go and go NOW, for it is written, “In my name they shall cast out demons, (Prov. 16:18). Whatever I ask, God will do! (John 14:13). As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15). God has said that when the enemy comes in like a flood, He will raise a standard against him. (Is. 59:19) The word 'standard' actually means a banner, or a flag. It is a symbol of the army rising up to fight the enemy. My friend, when Jesus raises His standard, all of heaven's resources will come to your aid! It's time to take down the enemy's flag out of his stronghold window and replace it with a banner representing the Lord Jesus Christ. Capture the stronghold and reclaim it! Rename the stronghold to mean a place of victory! Pray: Father God, I renounce all idols and all false masters. I re-commit myself to You this day. Please forgive my sin! “So now, my enemy, you liar, thief and encroacher, I bind all the power of the strongman and your house is pulled down. I reclaim all that God has given to me. Satan, be bound in Jesus name! According to what Jesus has already done to overcome you and strip you of all authority, and in accordance with the dominion and authority that He has transferred to me, His blood bought child: “be rendered powerless, paralyzed, silent and impotent, in Jesus name!” I submit to My God, the Lord Jesus Christ and to the authority of Holy Spirit. I resist you and you must flee, Satan. Take everything you have put on me and go now in Jesus name. I command your stronghold to be dismantled now. I raise the standard of the Lord in every place where Satan was once in control. The banner over me is that of Jehovah Tdiskenu, my righteousness. The banner over me is Jehovah Nissi, my banner of victory and He has gone before me in battle. I win!! The banner over me is Jehovah Ra'ah, the Lord is my shepherd and He leads me in paths of righteousness. The banner over me is Jehovah Elohim, and He is the Lord God. The banner over me is El Elyon, the most high God. Jesus is Lord over my life and you shall not be exalted into a place of rulership. Give up dominion now, in Jesus name! The banner over me is El Olam, the everlasting God that will never leave me or forsake me. The banner over me is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals me, and I declare that by His stripes, I am healed, according to Isaiah 53:5.”
I declare this stronghold to be renamed ABIDING GRACE, VICTORY and PRAISE.
“Lord Jesus, I ask that the glory of the Lord would be my rear guard and protect my blind spots. Let the rear guard of Your army of heavenly hosts blow up every bridge the enemy tries to come across. Come and fill me once again with the power and presence of Your Holy Spirit in every area where the enemy once had power over me. Forgive me for giving over my dominion and letting Satan control certain areas of my life. Thank you for helping me tear down his stronghold, and every time he tries to re-built it with his lies, help me to recognize the lie right away and take authority over it. Help me to cast down all his vain imaginations and suggestions and put them under Your feet. Renew my mind with pure desires and let the power of God flow unhindered in my life. In Jesus name, amen.”
The God of All Hope Will Restore You!
There are times when everything goes wrong and the enemy sets a plan in motion to kill off the very thing that has our heart's desire. People are left with nothing but ashes of yesterday's promises. God wants you to know that out of the ashes of loss, and out of the pain of your yesterdays, He has a plan to bring new hope. There are more people than we can count that feel this sort of pain every day. I'd like to draw your attention to one couple in the Bible that knew this heartache, too. Their names were Adam and Eve. They lost one son to death at the hands of his brother, and the one that murdered was cast out of the land as a vagabond with a curse all the rest of his days. It caused tremendous heartache to Adam and Eve. Then, after a time of grieving, a seed of hope was planted for their future.
Genesis 4:25 “And Adam knew his wife again and she bore him a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.”
With the death of Adam’s first son, Abel, and the expulsion of Cain being cast out of the land with a curse (read Gen. 4), Adam and Eve faced a loss of hope for their future. They had no son to carry on their line for the birth of the promise of the Messiah. Although they may not have been aware of the Messiah coming from their lineage, and although it was many, many years in the future, God had to have a plan in place to insure that the promise in HIS heart and of His purpose would eventually come to pass. It wasn’t just their hope that had been cut off, but hope for the future of mankind.
I want you to know that when the enemy has set in motion a plan to kill off your inheritance, God always has a seed of hope waiting. God was compelled to bring forth a new son - the hope of a new promise. The name Seth is related to a Hebrew verb meaning, “to place” or “to set” for Seth was appointed to take the place of the murdered son. Even when the enemy has done all he can to kill and destroy what you thought contained all the hope for your future, God always has a plan to restore hope!
Another story worth consideration is found in Joshua 3. It is the story of Rahab the harlot. The Israelite army approached Rahab's city of Jericho. Can you imagine what it looked like to her, watching the army marching toward the city, knowing full well that the army would bring death and destruction right to her family, friends and neighbors, and into her very home? All of Jericho had heard of the Israelites and the God that fought for them. Now they were on the way to destroy the city and everyone in it. The people's hearts were faint with terror and they had no courage to fight. Even Rahab made the confession that she knew the Lord had given them the land. Her land. Fear had taken over. Have you ever faced a situation where fear and impending doom was stronger that faith? This is what Rahab felt. She knew her hope was about to be cut off, and that of her family as well. Then, to make matters worse, God brought the enemy right to her very doorstep! Two spies came to the house of Rahab because they knew that local news would be readily available in the house of a prostitute. This is where gossip abound and secrets were traded. It was a very strategic move on the part of the spies. When the king heard about their whereabouts, he sent a search party to go find them. But look at how the hand of God worked in this situation: the spies were trapped, and Rahab needed a miracle to save her household. Other people in the city of Jericho may have been calling on the name of their gods, but Rahab knew her only hope was in the God that fought for the Israelites. She had to re-evaluate her loyalties and make an important decision, but it became a life-changing decision. It was the moment of crisis that caused Rahab to reach out to the God of the Israelites and take a step of faith. She offered kindness to the spies, and they in turn offered her the hope of salvation. In that moment of desperation, a miracle was being formed. They came up with a plan. She would hide the spies from the approaching soldiers and helped them escape. They would agree to spare her family from the coming destruction and she was to hang a scarlet cord in her window as a sign of their secret agreement.
Now, Rahab lied and actually gave up her entire city to the destruction. Many from Jericho, if they had known what she had done, would probably have said she acted dishonorably and her actions where those of a traitor. I'm sure plenty of them would have felt very offended, not having an opportunity to make the same deal as Rahab did with the spies! Yet, God chose to honor her act of faith. She was an unlikely recipient of God’s grace and goodness, but GOD CHOSE her because she had already been chosen to be in the genealogy of the coming Messiah. She didn’t know it, but God had chosen her to be the recipient of an incredible miracle. Her hope was not to be cut off. God intervened just at the right moment to give her hope for the future!
Dear friend, know that God has a plan to re-write your future any time it's needed. If the script of your life needs an over haul, He is already in the process of writing it. Don't be discouraged no matter how things may look at this present time. God has a seed of hope just waiting for you! The key here is to ask Him to give you understanding so that you know how to pray. If you are persistent, He will lead you into revelation by His Holy Spirit and show you exactly what you need to know. Pray in faith upon what you know He has shown you and it will certainly come to pass. You never have to fear!
